Bobbie Foster Obituary

Bobbie Duckworth Foster, our mother, grandmother and great grandmother died Sunday, August 31, 2008, at Magee General Hospital. The family received friends Wednesday, September 3, 2008, at Tutor Funeral Home from 5-7 pm and again today 10-11 am at the church. A funeral service celebrating her life will be held at First Baptist Church in Magee at 11 am today.
She was the youngest of four daughters born to Robert and Effie Walker Duckworth of Magee on February 29, 1920. She was a graduate of Magee High School and Hinds Community College.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Royce Foster to whom she had been married for 42 years. The couple shared in rearing three children and established several businesses. Bobbie worked in the family business and continued in the operation of Foster Furniture Company and De Villa Inn after Royce's death.
Bobbie was an active member of First Baptist Church. During these years she was a faithful Sunday school teacher. She was active in the community as a chartered member of Magee Chamber of Commerce, Magee Garden Club, and Sinfonia Music Club. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and Belles and Beaus. She was an accomplished pianist. She enjoyed designing and making Christmas gifts for her family and friends. In her 80's she continued to memorize poetry and loved to read books.
Bobbie loved her family above and beyond all, she loved Royce until his death; she was devoted to her daughters and son. She adored and relished in the joy that her grandchildren brought to her life. She glowed as she saw her great-grandchildren born. Indeed she lived to see her legacy unfold.
She is survived by her son, Royce Foster of Magee; daughters, Joy and husband, Don Harris of Magee and Jo Ann and husband, Gary Foster of Magee; her grandchildren, Joell Harris McBeth of Flowood, Scott Foster Harris of Hattiesburg, Celisa Foster Peltz of Brandon, Jennifer Harris Moulton of Atlanta, GA, Royce (Chip) Foster III of Philadelphia, Jamie Foster of Starkville, and James (Jay) Goodman Foster of Magee; and her great-grandchildren, Megan McBeth, Evan McBeth, Landon Peltz, Natalie Peltz, Scott Miles Harris, Foster Harris, and Hannah Mary Moulton.

Joy, JoAnn, Royce and Family,
Am so sorry to hear about your loss. Your Mother (along with her sisters) were always special cousins to our family. I know you have so many precious memories of your sweet Mother. My thoughts and prayers will be with you in the coming days. (Joy and JoAnn, thank you for all the cards that you have sent to Burlian during his illness. They have meant so much to him). Our love to your family,
Audrey Walker Andrews and Family

I am very sorry to read about the loss of such a caring person. Bobbie seemed to be a very active and talented person who appreciated life and family. How heartening God’s promises are found at Revelation 21:4 “And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore”.
