Cameron L. Till Jr.

Cameron L. Till, Jr., 79, died Saturday, March 10, 2007, at Hospices Ministries in Ridgeland. Wright & Ferguson is in charge of cremation and a memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the chapel on Highland Colony. The family will host friends at their home following the service.
Mr. Till was born in 1927 in Natchez, and his family moved to Jackson in 1929. He was the son of Cameron L. Till, Sr. and Ernestine Smithe Till, each of whom preceded him in death.
Cam attended the Jackson Public Schools and graduated from Central High School in the class of 1944 and was a member of Phi Kappa fraternity. He entered the University of Mississippi at age 16 where he was a member of The Cardinal Club, Kappa Alpha Fraternity and The Ole Miss Loyalty Foundation. He enlisted in the U. S. Marine Corps in 1945 and returned to Ole Miss in 1948 to graduate in 1951.
He was a retired structural engineer. Prior to opening his private practice in 1975, he was associated with Post, Witty, Till, Structural Engineers.
Mr. Till was baptized at Calvary Baptist Church at the age of 12 and along with his family, moved his letter of membership to Broadmoor Baptist Church in 1973. He was an avid Ole Miss football fan and loved his two boats, The James Louis" and The Sweet Darlin"and spent every summer on the sand bars at the Pearl River. He liked to say- a bad day on the river is better than a good day anywhere else.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 56 years, Jeanne A. Till of Jackson; his son, Chris Till; daughter, Leigh Williamson and her husband, Walter; granddaughters, Jennifer Wilson and her fiancee Dan Henry, Tysone Turk; and great-granddaughter, Brooklyn; and two nieces and two nephews.
