Carolyn Bailey Kerr, 74, died on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at Brookdale Senior Living Center in Clinton, Mississippi. Her memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at First United Methodist Church in Clinton, Mississippi, with visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m.

Carolyn was born on April 7, 1942 in St. Petersburg, Florida. She was the daughter of the late Roland Norman Bailey and Virginia Davis Bailey. She spent most of her childhood and young adult life in St. Petersburg and graduated from Boca Ciega High School. After high school, she attended St. Petersburg Junior College. Carolyn married Kenneth R. Kerr, Jr. (Ken) December 5, 1970. After several relocations due to Ken's job changes, Carolyn, Ken and their two young daughters moved to Jackson, Mississippi in March of 1977, where they established their home and raised their family.

Carolyn worked as a homemaker until her girls were in their teens. She then went to work in the insurance industry until retiring in 2008 to spend more time with her grandchildren and to help her husband with his various health-related issues.

Carolyn was a long-time member of Epworth United Methodist Church in Jackson until it closed. She and her husband then joined First United Methodist Church in Clinton. She will be remembered as a classy and kind lady who placed her family's needs ahead of her own.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. She is survived by her daughters, Kathryn Burgess (Greg) of Clinton and Karen Land (David) of Brandon; and by her four grandchildren, Brendan and Andrew Burgess of Clinton and Ryan and Megan Land of Brandon. She is also survived by two sisters, Marilyn Price (Jack) of St. Petersburg and Cody Northup of Aurora, Colorado; as well as by several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like to suggest memorials be made to Alzheimer's research foundations and/or to any local or national animal shelters or charities.
