Christine Wilder Herring died peacefully on Sunday, October 19, 2014. She was born on October 1, 1914 in Camden, Mississippi. She graduated from Camden Agricultural High School and the Mississippi University for Women. She moved to Brandon, MS in 1948 with her beloved husband, J C Herring, to teach in the Rankin County School System until her retirement. She taught Home Economics in Pelahatchie and fourth and sixth grades in Brandon elementary. She retired in June of 1974.

She was a lifelong Presbyterian and was a member of the Brandon Presbyterian Church since 1948. She was a mother who prayed for her two sons every day. As a result of the prayers of a Godly mother, both of her sons have spent their careers in full time Christian service which was the pride of her life. She loved the flowers in her yard and watching red birds outside her home.

She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-four years, J C Herring. Survivors include the Reverend Wayne C. Herring (Joyce) of Nashville, Tennessee and Gary J. Herring (Jerri) of Flowood, Mississippi. She is also survived by seven granddaughters and seventeen great grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the administration and staff of the Heritage House of Castlewoods for their excellent care over the last seven years and her personal caregivers, Renee and Paula.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at 10:00 am at Brandon Memorial Gardens in Brandon, MS. Memorials may be made to the Brandon Presbyterian Church, 209 South College Street, Brandon, MS 39042.
