David Glen Galyon

Brandon

David Glen Galyon, age 56, died at his home in Rankin County, MS on August 25, 2015 after a long battle with cancer.

David was born January 31, 1959 and raised in El Paso, TX. After receiving his BS Degree from the University of Texas, El Paso he moved to Mississippi where he earned his JD Degree from Mississippi College and made Mississippi his home. He was a Managing Partner of Schwartz and Associates and as a practicing attorney he was admitted to practice before all State and District Courts in Mississippi, as well as the United State District Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit and Supreme Court of the United States.

Survivors include his parents, Jeanne and David Syner of El Paso, TX; siblings, James Galyon (Vicki), Scott Syner (Nancy), and Ruth Riley (Robert) of El Paso, TX/Las Cruses, NM, Richard Syner (Sandy) of Meridian, MS, and Karen Flowers (John) of Clinton, MS. He is also survived by his children, Jessica Mae Russell, Jon Michael Russell, Alexandria Jeanne Galyon and Jacqueline Rae Galyon.

A celebration of life to be held at Bay Point Country Club, 800 Bay Pointe Drive, Brandon, MS 39047, on Saturday, August 29, 2015 at 5:00 p.m.

Many thanks to our friends who have faithfully prayed for David throughout his long struggle as well as the physicians and medical staff at University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, TX and Jackson Oncology Associates PLLC, Jackson, MS.

I can't believe it's almost been 10 years since you left us for a much better place. You were such an amazing person and I just loved getting to know you as a client and becoming a personal friend. Your conversations and business insights were truly incredible to witness and made such an impact on my life. Having lived just down the road from you, it meant the world to me to help you during your sickness/treatments when you had too much pride to ask for support from others. You made such and impact on so many lives and I know you are continuing to do the same now! My heart and prayers still go out to your family, as a loss like yours will never be forgotten. See you again in the next life!

I miss you immensely. Not a day passes that I don´t think of you. In fact, your name comes up in my conversations regularly. I still have The Legal Hierarchy you wrote to me, which began as a joke between us on a George Street Grocery napkin. It´s framed and is the first thing I ever hang in my office. I treasure it and everyone stops to read it, and they get a real charge from it. You were a great attorney, very missed and will never be forgotten. Miss you, buddy.

I was fortunate enough to call Dave a Brother in the Kappa Sigma Fraternity at UT El Paso. He was more than a Brother to me then and through the years we still shared long-distance laughs. "Little Snake," as Dave was jokingly referred to, was a guy who had a big heart and would give you the shirt off his back. I will miss you Dave.

It has been years since I saw you or spoke with you, however you were one of the most thoughtful and caring persons I ever worked with. It saddens me to hear you had to leave this world way too soon, you were one of the few good ones. May God comfort your precious family and keep you close. RIP Dave Galyon.

Melissa, Kerry, and Justin made a donation to the American Cancer Society in hopes they will cure this horrible disease. David was truly a dear friend and such a good guy. Years ago in college my cat got run over and Dave came still in scrubs and had to go to the bottom of a gully in El Paso to bury him. So we're shivering and Im crying and he starts reciting "Earth to Earth, Ashes to Ashes, Dust to Dust, Rats to Cats". Such a kind thing to do and made me feel so much better. My thoughts and prayers are with his so loved family and friends

I am truly saddened by the loss of my dear friend, David. I last spoke with him when he called me the day he awoke following his recent brain surgery. Although he was suffering, he never showed it. We spent about two hours laughing and chatting about life and how much fun we had had together over our twenty five year friendship. His final text to me was on July 13th and it said, "It's still good to be me!" I will miss you my friend. Much love to your family in this most difficult of times. You fought a fearless battle but now you have to fight no more. I will love and miss you until I see you again.
