Dennis Bomgaars Obituary
Dennis grew up in Orange City, Iowa, as the second of 3 children. After joining the U.S. Air Force, he married his high school sweetheart Sharon at age 19. Five years later they moved with their two young boys to Mississippi so Dennis could attend Reformed Theological Seminary in Jackson. Two more children were born, and Dennis graduated with two Masters Degrees (Christian Education and Biblical Studies) and began working with Mt. Salus Christian School. As an active member of Providence Presbyterian Church, he served as a deacon for many years and, with his wife, he taught a Wednesday 1st-2nd grade class for 10 years. He had a special place in his heart for children and worked for almost 20 years mentoring and training young people through his work with the school and church. Sharon passed away in 2002. Dennis then married Linda Smith Satterfield. They lived in Brandon for the past 2 years. Dennis recently retired from the Air National Guard after 32 years of military service.
Survivors include: wife, Linda Bomgaars; sons, Micah (Carolyn) Bomgaars, Joel (Rachel) Bomgaars, and Daniel Bomgaars; daughter, Christina (Thomas) Dent; step-sons, Daniel and Jason Satterfield; step-daughter, Rachel (Matt) Parker; mother, Delores (Harold) Smit of Orange City, Iowa; sister, Bonnie (Barry) Stewart and brother, Leon (Tresa) Bomgaars, both of Loveland, Colo.; parents in-law, Bill and Pricilla Wagenaar of Sheldon, Iowa; parents in-law, Marjorie and John Charles Smith of Greenville; and granddaughter, Kate Bomgaars.
