I was saddened to read that Dr Hurt had passed. My mom was his nurse while he was stationed in Germany. I was just a kid but I have fond memories of him always having a smile on his face and was very funny. We talk about funny stories at the dental clinic every once and awhile, Germany was a great time for my mom and my family.
I wonder how he passed, and again I´m very sad to see he passed so long ago.

I am saddeded to learn of Duane Hurt's passing. My first encounter with him was as a patient, but my subsequent encounters were as a friend. His sense of humor and his laughter were contagious. I cannot say enough about his infectious personality and his sincerity. He easily won the respect and admiration of all who knew him. My sincerest sympathy to his family, about whom he often spoke--with unconditional love and beaming pride.

My profound condolences go to Sandie and to the entire Hurt family. Duane was a wonderful fellow who shared with me a deep and abiding faith in our country and the ideas for which it stood. Our conversations and interactions were an important part of my education. I know that he was proud of his role in the community. I especially admired his steady commitment to stay informed and to broadened himself across a variety of ideas and subjects. I was always impressed with his dedication to family, expecially when he spoke with great pride and admiration for this his sons in the military. I deeply regret his passing as I thought Duane was truly a dedicated citizen and a committed patriot. Death has stolen a very important fellow citizen from me and the communtiy. May the memories of his life, his intellectual vitality, and his dedication to the life of the mind stay alive in the hearts and minds of his family. I know that Duane will always be an inspiration to me and Molly.

I will always have such great memories of my time together with Duane. To this day he remains one of my personal hero's. When I first arrived at Cole High School Duane welcomed me with open arms. He was a great friend and conveyed a genuine warmth and special interest in all of us who were fortunate enough to know him. He encouraged me to try out for the football team, taught me how to drive a stick shift and even taught me how to dress. Louis Cabaza, Duane and I were inseparable and the three of us referred to ourselves as the "triumvirate". I'm really going to miss him.
Sandi, Judy's and my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Your loss is heaven's gain and I am certain that God has a very special place for someone with Duane's many gifts. We take comfort in knowing we will see him again.
Love,
Rob and Judy Love

May God grant the family grace and peace in this time of loss, and may Duane be welcomed into the Heavenly realm. I was also a classmate of Duane at Cole High School 40+ years ago. Duane's was a shining personality that stood out among his classmates. I know he touched many lives since then, and he wil be greatly missed. God speed, Duane.

Duane made a lasting impression on all his classmates. Like many of us attending a brand new high school we were only there for two years. In that two years he was active in sports, student government and the social scene. He left us with wonderful memories and his death is a great loss.

My fraternity little brother, Bob Thomas, notified me of Duane's death through an e-mail. I am so sorry to hear that Duane had passed away. We were fraternity brothers at USM. (Kappa Sigma) I always looked up to Duane because he always seemed to take an interest in all the new pledges since he was the Pledge Trainer at that time. He was a very bright individual who will be sorely missed by many people. My condolences go out to his family. AEKDB Brother!

I am a friend of Duane's from law school. Duane was the most splendid mixture of southern gentleman, rebel rouser, rule breaker and rule creater. My thoughts and prayers go out to Sandy, Matthew, Nathan and the extended Hurt family. Words cannot express. God bless you as you heal from this loss.

What a huge loss! My sincerest sympathy to Doctor Hurt's family, whom he loved dearly and about whom he proudly told good stories. He was on the State Board of Health, which is the only way I would have known him; he made public health better. . . God bless him and his family.

Sandie,
My heart is so saddened by the news of Duane. He was my mentor and friend. We started practice about the same time here in Vicksburg so many years ago. He supported me thru many difficult situations.
I can't say enough great things about a man who helped and taught this "NEW" Vicksburg dentist. You are in my prayers, and I pray you will be comforted by God in this tough time. If there is anything I can do to help you I would be honored to do so. Again, my deepest sympathies go out to you and the children.

My deepest sympathy goes out to Duane's family. I met Duane thru law school and he and I discovered mutual friends from The University of Southern Mississippi and from his high school days here in NC. He was truly a people person, and in spite of his efforts to be a tough guy, he was an old softie who cared so much it seemed like he was two different personifications. Nathan, Matt and Sandie, he loved you all so very much, God bless you all.
