Frank Ashley Obituary

Frank Ashley, Jr, 80, a retired farmer, died Thursday, May 6, 2010, at Baptist Memorial Hospital at Oxford, MS.
Visitation is today from 12-2pm at Meredith-Nowell Funeral Home in Clarksdale, MS. Funeral services are 2:00pm today at Meredith-Nowell Funeral Home in Clarksdale, MS with burial in the Oakridge Cemetery. Meredith-Nowell Funeral Home in Clarksdale, MS is handling the arrangements.
Mr. Ashley graduated from Lula-Rich school and attended University of Mississippi and in Sigma Chi Fraternity. He was a SSGT in the US Air Force during the Korean War. While in the service he was able to see the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth. He was a member of VFW post 3936 and American Legion. He was an avid hunter and charter member of Old River hunting club in Tunica and Montgomery Island Hunting club. He was a member of Lula Methodist Church where he was Sunday School Superintendent and taught Young Boys Sunday school class.
Survivors include: his wife of 48 years, Yvonne Roy Ashley of Clarksdale, MS; son, Frank Ashley,III of Mobile, AL; daughter, Lea Ashley Fyfe (Richard) of Oxford, MS; sister, Frances Ashley Donaldson (Robert W.) of Jackson, MS; two grandchildren, Morgan and Lucy Fyfe of Oxford, MS; niece, Daty Dibrell Ashley; and two nephews, James C. Ashley, Jr. and Ashley Donaldson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Lelia Morgan Ashley, Sr.; and brother, Jimmy Ashley.
