Gerald - according to my doctor I'll see you soon. Please save me a seat at the bar and please don't eat all of the chicken wings.

I knew Gerald in the 70's as an archaeologist. He was a kind and gentle soul, always ready to give a helping hand. May he now rest in peace.

Like so many students, I met Gerald when in college at MSU. I had many talks with him and enjoyed his perspective on things. I am thankful I got to know him. Starkville will never be the same without him walking the streets of the cotton district and campus taking pictures along the way.

Couldn't think of a better person to ride out Hurricane Camille with in 1969. So long, old bud.

I have known Gerald since 1974. He was my best friend. He spoke with kindness and always was there if I needed him. I wish I had known he was in Jackson I would have loved to hear his peaceful voice again. I carry a picture of him made of the two of us and have many fossils and knowledge he had shared with me in the past. I will always carry it with me and I will Always carry Gerald in my heart. I will forever remember the days we spent working together at APB Photo and cherish the undivided attention I got from Gerald listening to him reminisce about past times, seeing his old photos, teaching me cameras and photography, teaching me to close shop so he could leave early to walk to Cheers. :) Love, Love, LOVE the times we spent together over the years!! Such a genuine, unique, loving soul! I miss you, my friend!! Starkvegas was a better place because of you and it will never be the same without your presence.

I join his many friends who have written here to express their long fondness for Gerry. We were part of a small group of folks in the early 1970s who "led the way" at State, though guess others may have seen that a bit differently. Like many of his other friends here, I can only remember Gerry with a smile on his face. A good man who definitely touched a whole lot of people.

Gerald was always a smiling face with a happy soul. I'm so proud my little boy got to rub that beard of his at the last MSU tailgate we saw him at. We will all miss you, old friend.

I remember Gerald knowing my Aunt Denise and him taking my family photos when I was about 8 years old at Eckie's Pond at MSU. He wore a Mickey Mouse shirt. Then I got to college and we instantly remembered each other and were friends. I was always so excited to see Gerald and listen to whatever he had to say! Starkville will truly miss him!
