Harold Evans Obituary

Services for Harold Rudolph Evans will be held today at 2 p.m. from the chapel of McClain-Hays Funeral Home. Rev. Fred Britton will officiate. Burial will follow in Cedarlawn Cemetery in Philadelphia.
Mr. Evans, 80, died Friday, November 7, 2008, at his home in Philadelphia.
He was born April 9, 1928. He was a retired Philadelphia banker and a naval veteran of the aircraft carrier, U.S.S. Kearsarge. Mr. Evans was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Philadelphia.
He was preceded in death by his father, Austin Lamar Evans; his mother, Delia Pinter Evans; a son, Harold Dan Evans; and a brother, Freeman Lamar Evans.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Rachel Darby Evans; a son, Michael Darby Evans, daughter-in-law, Mitze Peebles Evans, grandsons, Benjamin Darby Evans and Daniel Darby Evans of Starkville; a son, Jon Scott Evans, daughter-in-law, Blair Beavers Evans and grandson, Charles Harold Evans of Germantown, TN; a nephew, Allan Thomas Pickle, Jr. of Ridgeland; many other beloved nieces and nephews; and a sister, Jean Evans Akraboff of Cleveland, OH.
Visitation will begin today at 11 a.m. at McClain-Hays Funeral Home in Philadelphia.

Such a good guy. Harold and his wife were always kind, smiling people; my parents enjoyed his humor. Harold's good works in Philadelphia made the town a better place.
