Henry Striplin Obituary

Henry D. Striplin, Sr., 74, and a resident of Morton, passed away Friday, February 1, 2008 at St. Dominic Memorial Hospital in Jackson. Funeral services will be at 11am today at the funeral home with burial in the Hodge Hill Cemetery in Morton. Revs. Barron Price and Jeremy Price will officiate. Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Striplin was born in Forrest, Arkansas and resided most of his life in Clarksdale, Ms until moving to Morton in 1999. He was a lifetime member of Clarksdale's Bill Whitmires Post No. 3936 and it's auxiliary. Mr. Striplin proudly served his country in the Vietnam and Korean wars, and continued until his retirement with the US Army after 21 years. He continued to work with Cooper Tire Co., and then later retiring with the State of Mississippi in police work. Mr. Striplin was of the baptist faith, but worshiped at the Polkville United Pentecostal Church. He was an avid hunter and golfer, which he was a member of the Pearl Senior Citizen's golf club. Mr. Striplin was devoted to his family and especially to his children.
Mr. Striplin is survived by his wife of eight years, Hilda Westerfield Striplin; eight children, Ruth Carpenter (Glen) of Walls, Ms; Jr. Striplin (Janice) of Clarksdale, Ms; Chester Striplin (Betsy) of Hernando, Ms; Donna McDaniels (Larry) of Olive Branch, Ms; Wayne Striplin (Liz) of Queenland, Australia; Michael Striplin (Jeri) of Oklahoma, Ok; Ben Striplin (Rose) of Seattle, Wa; and John Striplin of New Albany, Ms; two sisters, Dorothy McDole of St. Louis, Mo. and Betty Blackburn of Memphis, Tn; one brother, Jack Striplin (Evelyn) of Clarksdale, Ms; 19 grandchildren and one great-grandchild; a host of nieces and nephews; along with his two companions, Nick and Duke.
