Jack Reed Obituary
Mr. Reed is the beloved husband of Mrs. Barbara A. Reed for 35 years. Loving father of Marc Reed and Kathy Hoffman. Son of the late Paul L. Reed and Ruby Aven Reed. Grandfather of Ezra Hoffman and Katy, Alex, Annie and Michael Reed. Brother of Betty R. Johnson of Marks, Nancy R. Griffis of Starkville, Robert W. Reed of Newton, N.J. and Roger P. Reed of Saltillo.
Mr. Reed served his country in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict. He received his Bachelor of Science and Master of Geophysics Degrees from Mississippi State University. He retired after 35 years of service in 1990 from Texaco Oil Co. Throughout his career he published numerous research papers on Gulf Plate Tectonics.
Mr. Reed was a longtime board member of the Forekids Foundation and was a member of the Audubon Golf Club in New Orleans.
A memorial service was held at Hosanna Lutheran Church on Friday, October 12, 2007 at 3:00pm. Interment will follow at a later date in Starkville.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Canon Hospice, 1221 S. Clearview Pkwy. 4th Floor, Jefferson, LA 70121.
