James French Obituary

Dr. James H. French, 87, died Tuesday, January 9, 2007, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Hot Springs, Ark. The Reverend Bud Reeves will officiate at the memorial service at 1 p.m. today at First United Methodist Church of Hot Springs. Burial will be at the columbarium of First United Methodist Church. Hot Springs Funeral Home of Hot Springs, Ark., is handling arrangements.

He was born February 21, 1919, to Dr. Dewitt Clinton and Blanche French. He graduated from High School in Water Valley. He is a graduate of Delta State University with a degree in Music and LSU School of Medicine. After completing a surgery residency he joined the Burton-Eisle Clinic in 1957. He was a World War II veteran and served in the American Division in the South Pacific for four years. He received the Bronze Star while in combat on Guadalcanal.

Dr. French was a member of First United Methodist Church having served on the Administrative Board.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Arlene (Weenie) of Hot Springs; five sons, Dr. Jim French Jr. (Kathy) of Great Falls, Va., Tom French (Sally) of Hot Springs, Ed French of Texarkana, Ark., John French of Hot Springs, and David French (Melinda) of Hot Springs; four granddaughters, Amy French of Hot Springs, Eryn French of Hot Springs, Sarah French of Columbia, Mo., and Chandler French of Great Falls, Va.; three grandsons, John French Jr. of Hot Springs, Jim French III of Great Falls, Va., and Will French of Hot Springs.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church or Caring Place or the charity of one's choice.

We met your son, Jim while he was a resident at Vanderbilt. He spoke very fondly of his family Ark.

We enjoyed him very much, but haven't heard from him lately.
