James Wilson Obituary
Crystal Springs
James Jacks (Jack) Wilson, Sr., 74, passed away after a hard-fought battle with Lymphoma on Sunday, March 2, 2014. Jack was born February 5, 1940, to Paralee and Wesley Wilson at home in Belzoni and was one of 11 children.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 25 years Peggy Ann Grant Wilson and then his loving wife of 25 years Linda Sue Grantham Wilson. He also lost daughters, Michelle Rae Oliver, Rebecca Sue McLeland and son Lyle (Boots) Wilson (Careen).
He was also preceded in death by sisters, Laura Virginia Webb, Mamie Lee Petrik, Mattie Lou Murff and brothers, Wesley Wilson, Jr. and Arthur Vardaman (Red) Wilson (Bonnie).
Surviving him are his wife Raye Jean Howell Wilson, daughters, Debra Ann Berry, Vickie Lynn Jasper (Ricky), Tammy Jo Stowe, Sandra Jean Smith (Mickey), Leanne Grantham Williams (Rick), and sons, James Jacks Wilson, Jr. (Michelle), James Larry Grantham, II (June), Daniel Clinton Berch, Samuel Lloyd Berch (Leslie). Survivors also include sisters, Jeanette Wilson Russell and brothers, Charles Clifford Wilson, Jimmy Wayne Wilson, Thomas Statum Wilson, Henry O'Neil Wilson. A very dedicated family man, he also leaves forty-four beloved grandchildren and thirty-two beloved great grandchildren.
Jack brought his family to Crystal Springs in 1972 to establish Wilson's Meat House, Inc. He was so grateful for the blessing of having his family work together. He was also so proud of the store's team he assembled through the years and considered them family as well, many having worked more than a decade.
His awards included Mississippi's Farmer of the Year, being a Master Pork Producer and he was involved with the Dixie National Sale of Champions each years as well as working with the Copiah County Soil and Water Conservation District and supporting countless local ball teams and community activities.
Stringer Family Funeral Home in Crystal Springs handled arrangements. Visitation was held Tuesday, March 4, 2014 from 5pm-8pm at Stringer Family Funeral Home and March 5, 2014, from 10am-11am at New Zion Baptist Church with funeral services at 11am.
