Joe Byrd Obituary

Joe T. Byrd

Star - Joe Timothy Byrd passed away Friday, May 28, 2021 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was 73 years old. The family will receive friends for visitation on Saturday, May 29th from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Star Baptist Church Community Life Center. There will be a funeral service Sunday, May 30th at 2:00 p.m. with visitation one hour prior, all at the church's Community Life Center. A Graveside service with Masonic Rites will follow at Star Cemetery.

Joe was born January 27, 1948 at home to Ella Rogers Byrd and John Irvin Byrd of Star, MS. He married his soulmate, Patricia Ann White Byrd on January 27, 1968, his 20th birthday. A life-long resident of Star, Joe was a faithful member of Star Baptist Church and an Avid Believer in Jesus Christ. He loved his wife and his family fiercely. He proudly served his country in the US Army National Guard. He was a Scottish Rite 32-degree Mason and was a member of the Evening Star Lodge #70 and a Wahabi Temple Shriner. Joe had an extremely strong work ethic and used it to help the folks in the community. He never met a stranger and he enjoyed camping and loved old Chevy cars.

Along with his parents, Joe is also preceded in death by his daughter, Heather Byrd; his brothers, Huey Byrd, Shelby Byrd, Dolly Byrd and Lavon Byrd; and sisters, Evelyn White and Ida Mae Sheppard.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Ann Byrd; daughters, Wendy (Kenneth) Berry, Sandy (Donnie) Warren, and Jennifer "J.J." (Brian) Bishop; grandchildren, Brianna (Tanner) McCue, Ashley Warren, Maegan Warren, Jacob Berry, Joseph Berry, and Whitney Bishop; sisters, Claudine Cooper, Clotile Van Gordon, Major Jean Dilmore, Jane (Morgan) Williams, and Janice (Pat) Henderson; brother-in-law, John (Linda) White; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.

Prayers for Tricia, Wendy, Sandy and JJ. I was like another kid of theirs growing up. Joe was a tough but great coach. Love y’all.
