Joe Edrington Obituary

Joe W. Edrington, Jr.

Memphis, TN

Joe William Edrington, Jr., born November 12, 1951, hated obituaries, so out of respect, this will be short. On April 10th, Joe left this earth on his own terms. With a big, tender heart for his wife, siblings, children, grandchildren and four-legged kids, Joe was passionate about the Ole Miss Rebels, New Orleans, duck hunting, southern agriculture, good food, and fine bourbon. He never met a Republican he didn't like. Joe is survived by his wife, Alison Williams of Memphis, TN; his children, Meredith Agostinelli, Molly Berry and Billy Joe Edrington, all of Jackson, MS; his son-in-laws, Garner Berry and Stephen Agostinelli of Jackson, MS; his grandchildren, Charlie Berry, Baylor Berry, Evelyn Grace Agostinelli and Sam Agostinelli, all of Jackson, MS; his sister, Susan Colford and brother, David Edrington, both of Little Rock, AR. Joe was preceded in death by his father, Joe William Edrington and his mother, Emily Edrington of Osceola, AR. A gathering of friends and family will be held at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens - Bartlett on Saturday, April 18, 2015 from 11:30am - 1:30pm. Joe was known by many to be a storyteller rivalled by none. For that reason, his family asks that friends and colleagues bring their best Joe Ed Story for a "Celebration of Life" gathering at Mim's Cafe, located at 7546 U.S. Highway 70 in Bartlett, TN from 2-4pm. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in honor of Joe's grandson, Charlie Berry, to Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy, 401 Hackensack Ave, 9th Floor, Hackensack, NJ 70601.

Joe will be missed by many. His funny sense of humor could light up a room. Recall the time he and Susan snuck away from Ole Miss over Mardi Gras and visited me in the Quarter. May his memory be a blessing. Condolences to the Edrington family

I have known Joe since high school when we competed against each other. I worked for him when he was in Jackson for Cyanamid. He always had that great personality and was truly a die hard Ole Miss fan. I am saddened to hear of his passing and send my thoughts and prayers to his family in this time of sorrow.

I have so many memories of Joe, but one my family always laughed about is when we were playing around on his top bunk. I accidentally tore his shirt and T-shirt right down the middle. He jumped down crying and I did the same. I was crying too because I thought I would be in trouble.
I went out with Joe and Larry after Joe's graduation! FUN night
We doubled when he was in college with a high school friend of mine, Winston! We laughed all night- so fun!
I could keep going from vacation at Bull Shoals to many holidays together.
We were the same age and always had such a good time when we were together. I was shy back then but not Joe. He was always laughing and talking!
Glad I have so many memories!!!
I'll always remember and never forget!

I'll never forget the times I spent with Joe. Although I only knew him a year or two, we worked together briefly and I felt like he was a true friend to me that would give me the shirt off of his back, If I'd asked. He took me duck hunting and fed me a meal fit for a king and taught me about Pappy Van Winkle, A rare and exquisite bourbon. That's what Joe was....RARE AND EXQUISITE. I cared deeply for him and I cant believe he is gone. I wish I had more memories with him, as a person like him comes rarely in a lifetime. I'll miss you buddy and I'll never forget you.

I have not been in touch for many years but Joe Ed will always be someone I will remember. I will not be able to join you all on the 18th so, here is one of my memories of Joe Ed... Preface: Joe Ed often swore he would never accept a promotion to NJ... Back in 1987, Joe Ed, as always, was excelling at his job, Don Z and I decided to pull Joe Ed's leg a bit... We were at a Cyanamid reception and I went up to Joe Ed and said, "Man that's what you get for being a top performer... Congratulations on your promotion to New Jersey." He responded, "WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?" I said,"ooops, I guess you haven't heard yet" He pulled me outside and that is when Don Z walked up and said... "Congrats on your move to New Jersey Joe Ed" We held our faces straight and stuck to the story as long as we could before we started laughing. He sore he'd get even... but then joined in on the laughter... I will miss you Joe Ed... Ron Rowcotsky

I'm so very sorry to hear about Joe's passing and my thoughts and sympathies are with you all. When I was young, Joe was like the big brother I never had. I loved playing with him. Funny to think, he was such a Razorback fan back then. Joe was always so gracious and welcoming to us when we visited, and at Meredith's and Molly's weddings. We will sure miss him and will always remember his smile and winning way.
