Mark Steele Obituary

Mark Andrew Steele, 25, went home to be with the Lord on April 24, 2007 at St. Dominic Hospital with his family by his side, after a courageous 6-month battle with cancer. Visitation is 10-11am today at First Baptist Church, Jackson. Funeral services will be 11am Friday, at First Baptist Church of Jackson with private burial to follow.
Mark was born on October 19, 1981 in Memphis, Tenn. He attended First Presbyterian Day School and Graduated with honors from Jackson Prep in 2000. While attending Prep, Mark enjoyed playing soccer and running track. He was honored his senior year by being selected "Most Handsome." Mark attained the rank of Eagle Scout and was a member of Troup 8. Mark made his profession of faith in Jesus at age 7, & he was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church, Jackson.
Mark graduated from Baylor University in 2004 with a BBA in Accounting. While at Baylor he was a member of Kappa Omega Tau fraternity. He received a Master of Accountancy in 2005 from the University of Mississippi and passed the CPA exam in 2006. Upon graduation Mark went to work at Deloitte & Touche in Memphis, Tenn. He attended Independent Presbyterian Church in Memphis prior to his illness.
Mark loved playing guitar, music, running and fishing as well as any activity that could be enjoyed with friends. He was a loyal son, brother, grandson, uncle and friend who was deeply loved and will be dearly missed by all.
Mark is survived by his parents, Al and Mary Lee Neeper Steele of Jackson; sister and brother-in-law, Laura and Richie Sessions of Memphis, Tenn.; brother, David Steele of Jackson; nieces, Mary Leslie and Margaret Sessions of Memphis; nephew Griffin Sessions of Memphis; grandparents, Leland and Ruth Neeper of Longview, Texas.; step-grandmother, Helen Steele of Philadelphia. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by grandparents, Ralph and Margaret Steele of Greenwood.
The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to Dr. Ruth Fredericks and the entire medical support staff of St. Dominic Hospital for their compassion and care during Mark's illness.
