Mary Hanry Obituary

Mary Frances Rogers Hanry, 93, died Friday, August 15, 2008, at St. Catherine's Village in Madison, MS.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 19, 2008, from 11:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at United Funeral Home in New Albany, followed by funeral services and burial at 1:00 p.m. at the New Albany Cemetery. (United Funeral Services 662-534-5071).
She was born in New Albany, Mississippi on June 24, 1915, to Herbert Graham Rogers Sr. and Opal Pannel Rogers. She was a life long member of the First United Methodist Church in New Albany. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Madison County Republican Women. She was an accomplished artist, pianist and tennis player. During World War II, while her husband was stationed in Texas, she was instrumental in establishing the first State Health Department in Beeville, TX. She owned retail stores in New Albany and Boonville in the 70's and a travel agency in Jackson from 1980 to 1995.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James S. Hanry of New Albany; and her two brothers, Herbert Graham Rogers Jr. of New Albany and Major General Guy Northcross Rogers "Ret" of Jackson, MS.
She is survived by her daughters, Elizabeth (Betsy) Rogers Hanry and Jamie Francis Hanry of Ridgeland, MS.
Memorials may be sent to the Methodist Children's Home.
