Mason Sonny Boyd

Louisville

Mr. Mason "Sonny" Boyd, 68, was born, April 14, 1944. He entered into heaven to be with Jesus on April 14, 2012. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, April 17th, at Poplar Flat Baptist Church, with Rev. Jonathan Peeples officiating. Interment will be in Poplar Flat Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Porter Funeral Home.

Mason "Sonny" Boyd was preceded in death by hisfather, Mason Boyd, Sr. of Montgomery, AL, and his mother, Maggie Wade Parker Boyd.

He grew up on a dairy farm in Montgomery. He attended Auburn University, and then met his wife, Helen. He worked for Sable Steel of Montgomery, and then he and his wife and two children moved to Louisville, MS. He was a businessman for 15 years and a sales representative with Taylor Machine Works for 20 years. He and his son, Cody, had a tree trimming service for 2 years. He had a love for horses and a God-given talent for woodwork. Crosses were what he loved building the most. He was a man who loved his family very much, but his most sincere love was for Jesus, our Lord and Savior.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Helen Boyd; a daughter, Kellie, and her husband, Hap Orr of Somerville, TN; a son, Cody and his wife, Angela Boyd of Louisville; and grandchildren, Olivia Orr, Elizabeth Ann Orr, J. Brady Orr, Mason Boyd, Chelsie Burns, and Kristen Burns.

Sonny Boyd went to heaven on his birthday and this was the most wonderful gift he could have ever had.

I knew Sonny growing up as a young boy and his Dad and Mom. I had a dairy Farm on Virginia Loop Road.I was Sonny's 4H leader and I must say that he was one outstanding young man.
