Missye Breazeale Obituary

Missye Rhee Brickell Breazeale, 57, of Jackson, died on Wednesday, November 11, 2009, at St. Dominic Hospital, Jackson, Mississippi.
Missye Rhee Breazeale was born in Meridian on May 2, 1952, to the late Herschel Brickell and Doris Rhee Fuller Brickell. She was raised in Jackson, was a member of the Murrah High School class of 1970; attended Mississippi State University and was graduated from Belhaven College magna cum laude. While at MSU, she became a member of Phi Mu fraternity.
Missye Rhee married her soul mate, Donald Glenn Breazeale, on January 4, 1974. Don and Missye Rhee enjoyed 35 years of marriage.
In addition to her husband, Donald G. Breazeale, Missye Rhee is survived by her son, Donald Glenn Breazeale, Jr., and his wife, Carter O'Ferrall Breazeale; her son, Maury Brickell Breazeale; and her daughter, Marianna Rhee Breazeale Shaw, and her husband, Benjamin Nash Shaw. Missye Rhee's mother, Doris Rhee Fuller Brickell survives her.
She is also survived by her sisters, Chris Harrison Brickell Marks and Amy Brickell Smith, and her husband, Dr. Len D. Smith, and by her dear grandchildren, Caroline O'Ferrall Breazeale and Virginia Rhee Breazeale.
Missye Rhee's life was marked by her commitment to her savior Jesus Christ, evidenced by a faithful service to her church, First Presbyterian of Jackson, where she served as a Bible teacher and as the Executive Assistant to the Senior Minister. She was also active in civic affairs and community outreach as she served on the Board of Trustees of Jackson Academy, as a representative for Alpine Camp for Boys, as a member of the Junior League of Jackson where she served as corresponding secretary, and as a member of the Board of Goodwill Services and as its President.
Missye Rhee loved her husband, her children, her grandchildren and her mother. And in the midst of serving them, she founded and owned Handworks Market, an extension of her love for sewing and smocking. Missye Rhee loved her country and believed it was necessary to be active in the political process, so she continued to be active in Mississippi Republican Women and actively supported Republican candidates.
Visitation will be held today in the courtyard of First Presbyterian Church from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. A private graveside service will be held on Saturday, November 14, 2009, followed by a Memorial Service at 11:00 a.m. at the sanctuary of First Presbyterian Church.
The family requests that memorials be made to Jackson Academy, 4908 Ridgewood Road, Jackson, MS 39211; to Reformed Theological Seminary, 5422 Clinton Boulevard, Jackson, MS 39209; or to First Presbyterian Church, 1390 N. State Street, Jackson, MS 39202.

Don
I'm so sorry about Missye Rhea. I just found out from Sally Sherman. My prayers are with you and your family during this difficult time. On a personal note, I lost my husband in 1985 and I share your loss in many ways. Though we haven't seen each other in years, I still remember our Murrah Days, as well as earlier years with her and her family. May God comfort you during this time.

We just returned from vacation in Egypt tonight and I heard the news from my Mom. I'm in shock. I just saw Missye Rhee in Lig's office in August, and she seemed to be doing well. I told her I'd be praying, and I have. But the Lord's ways are not our ways... we think we have good plans, but God's ways are the best. We'll miss her always, but we have the blessed Hope of joining her and all the saints. We'll pray God's comfort, brother, and I hope to see you next summer. - Clay

Don,
How sadden and shocked I am to hear today in my Sunday School Class of your very dear wife passing this week. Just Monday at Circle it was mentioned she was in hospital due to a turn of her cancer. Today's class lesson was on Suffering and what it teaches us and we decided she taught us all how to die. She glorified the Lord to the very end. She was a remarkable women in every right and walked with great dignity all along her illness path.

I will miss her. Thank you for sharing her with us at First Presbyterian Church.

Peace and blessing, dear friend.

Dear Don & Family,

As you know, Missye Rhee was such a important part of our lives as children and adults. Your family was considered part of ours. I'm sorry we cannot be there today but our spirit is there. Anna's first baby picture was taken in a dress she made. We will cherish her memory and her spirit is carried on through her many good deeds and through you and your beautiful children and grandchildren.
