Nancy Landrum was my fourth grade teacher, and even then I knew she was very special. Among the highlights of that year, was her return from the World Series. She gave us a play-by-play which ,in my memory, mainly involved
A description of hits by the Cardinals on a dramatic scoreboard. She also organized her students into a game known as multiplication football. I think it was the only time I truly enjoyed anything related to mathematics. She enthusiastically encouraged us as we worked our way through the SRA reading program. If short, she made school and learning fun. Demonstration school, and her students were fortunate to have her as a teacher. I shall always be grateful for this early, shining light in my educational experience. Rest in peace, "Mrs. Landrum." Nora Frances Stone McRae

Nancy and my sister where class mates and very close. I always remember them having such a good time. Later I enjoyed that same great friendship with Nancy. I will miss her so much. My blessings to the family

Nancy was my Fourth Grade teacher at Demonstration School. I had had a string of old lady teachers so when I walked in and saw her in a poodle dress and red keds, I could not believe it. I remember telling my mother that my teacher wears tennis shoes!! She was so creative in her teaching. We had relay races to look up words in the dictionary. Since I could find the words quickly, it was the only time I was one of the first picked for any sports team!
She also taught multiplication by dividing the room in half and drawing a football field on the floor. She put a number on the football and threw it to us. We then went down the numbered field multiplying the number on the football by the number on the field. The fact that I can remember this 55 years later says a lot.
