Pauline Watson Obituary
Services were held May 10, 2008, at Little Rock's First United Methodist Church for Pauline Lindsey Davis Watson, aka "PLD", of Little Rock.
Mrs. Watson died May 7 at her home.
Mrs. Watson was born in Little Rock, October 8, 1920 to Katharine Lindsey and Samuel Preston Davis Jr. She was a descendent of an Arkansas pioneer family. An ancestor was Eli Lindsey, the first Methodist minister in the Arkansas territory.
Mrs. Watson was graduated from Little Rock High School. She attended Little Rock Junior College. Hendrix College and was graduated from the University of Tennessee where she was a member of the Chi Omega fraternity. She was a debutante at the Country Club of Little Rock. She was a lifelong member of Little Rock's First United Methodist Church where her family has been members for eight generations.
Mrs. Watson was a past president of the Pulaski County and State Medical Auxiliaries, past president of the Ada Thompson Memorial Home and past president of Forest Park PTA. She was a member of the Colonial Dames of America, the Junior league of Little Rock, the Edelwess Club, the Arkansas Arts Center, the Thursday Book Club, Chi Omega Alumnae Club, the Country club of Little Rock, Lakeside Country Club, Springlake Country club and a member and secretary for 40 years of the Mt. Holly Cemetery Association.
Mrs Watson attended Camp Waldemar in Texas, Ecole Champlain in Vermont, and was once Queen of Cotton in Memphis.
The family wishes to extend thanks to Mrs. Watson's caregivers: Levi Givens, Mary Adams, Marie Drone, Theresa Johnson, Cynthia Robinson, Ira Tucker and Rose Holmes. Deepest thanks also goes to Dr. Ray and Mrs. Jouett for their compassion for the Watson family throughout the years and at the end of Mrs. Watson's life.
Survivors are her daughters: Lindsey Watson Huckabay of Little Rock and Olivia Watson Neill and her husband, Dr. John C. Neill of Jackson; granddaughter, Katharine Lindsey Allen Adams and her husband, Gene Darrow Adams, Jr., of Little Rock; grandsons, Robert Watson Neill of Atlanta, John Chalmers Neill, Jr. of Jackson; and great-granddaughter, Katharine Lindsey Adams of Little Rock.
Mrs. Watson was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Dr. Robert Watson, the first neurosurgeon in Arkansas, and her brother, Colonel S. Preston Davis III.
