Robert W. "Scotty" Irby, Jr., 66, of Madison, Mississippi, died October 8, 2014, in Jackson, MS, of myelodysplastic syndrome.

Scotty was born May 17, 1948, in Monroe, LA, to Robert Irby, Sr., and Marjorie Scott Irby. He graduated from Neville High School and University of Louisiana at Monroe, School of Pharmacy. In Monroe he was a member of Southside (Lea Joyner Memorial) United Methodist Church.

He was currently a Registered Pharmacist in Mississippi and previously in Texas.

He is deceased by his parents; a sister, Bobbie Ann Irby Martini Dowden; and father-in-law, David Quentin Rankin, Sr.

He is survived by his wife Linda Rankin Irby; two sons, Jeffrey Scott Irby, Kill Devil Hills, NC; and Jason Andrew Irby, Brandon, MS; two grandsons, Quinton Chancellor "Chance" Scott Irby, Greensboro, NC; and Austin Irby, Greenville, NC; daughter-in-law Katherine Roche Irby, Powell's Point, NC; and mother-in-law, Maxine Campbell Rankin, of West Monroe, LA.

Scotty lived for over forty years in Clinton, MS, where he was a member of First United Methodist Church, and led youth as Sunday School teacher and Methodist Youth Fellowship sponsor. He served as a member and president of the Clinton Community Christian Corporation.

In 2006 Scotty and Linda moved to Lake Caroline in Madison, where he enjoyed playing golf with his friends. He was a member of Parkway Hills United Methodist Church.

Beloved husband, dad, grandad, and friend, he is gone too soon, but he gave us all the model of courage in his fight with cancer, of love and support for family, and of Christian compassion and service to others.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 11, Riverview Cemetery, 3901 South Grand Street, Monroe, LA 71202, with Kilpatrick Funeral Home in charge.

Memorial service will be 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 12, 2014, Parkway Hills United Methodist Church, 1468 Highland Colony Parkway, Madison, MS 39110.
