Sabrena Jones Obituary

Sabrena Cooper Jones, 47, passed away Friday, December 18, 2009, at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson.
A Celebration of life service will be held 1 pm Saturday, December 26, 2009, at Crossgates Baptist Church in Brandon with a visitation starting Saturday at 11 am at church. Burial will follow in the New Brandon Cemetery. There will also be a visitation on Thursday, December 24, 2009, from 1 pm until 3 pm at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon.
Sabrena was an active member of Crossgates Baptist Church. She loved life and loved people and was always willing to help anyone. She participated in outreach programs for people in need, even in her uniform shop she would give scrubs to anyone that could not afford them. Sabrena had a radiant smile and brought joy to anyone she encountered and referred to everyone as a Blessing. She always put God first, children and family second and most of all herself last.
Sabrena had an extreme amount of faith in God and believed that prayers would be answered, and the evidence was her Extreme Home Make Over.
Survivors include her three children, Marjon Jones, Mardaireus Jones and Marjiya Jones; parents, Etta Luvine Cooper and Curtis Cooper; four sisters, Denise Cooper, Argie Cooper Brown (Darin) and Renita Cooper Jackson (Robert) and Tasha Battle; one brother, J.D. Blocker; two nieces LaQuita and Cornesha Cooper; and nephews, Devon Cooper and Robert Jackson, III.

"And we will understand HIM better by and by." We don't know why or how THE ALMIGHTY picks his flowers to take with Him up glory. Perhaps HE sees the ones that are in full bloom. To the Cooper and Jones families my heart reaches out to you in your time of lost. I knew Sebrena & her family when I was a youngster attending the Main St. Baptist Church in Biloxi, MS and briefly in Jackson MS. Her smile and spirit would radiant the room; heaven is glowing little brighter. Thank you Sebrena for be such engaging and delightful person.////// Cecil ReId III (Grand Prairie, TX)

Sabrena - That was a wonderful celebration at CBC; I'm sure you were partying with us! I know you're having a wonderful time in the presence of the Lord! You have raised AMAZING children; in time, they will be fine, until they can join you eternally. You blessed me, though we never actually met. I worked to help build your home five days, all day; I would have done more, but, the job was done. On Sunday mornings, you always brought joy to me by simply "being". Your precious, glowing face always brought out the best in me! We'll miss you here, but, see you soon! Look up! For the time is nigh! Here, there, or in the air!

I met Sabrena through my employment at Merry Maids. From the first time I entered her home until the last conversation that I shared with her, Sabrena always praised God and acknowledged his responsibility for everything that was possible in our lives. I will always remember the laughs we shared, the smile that never leaves your memory, and the beauty that she radiated every time you were in her presence. To her children, I know that this will be one of the most trying times in your life, and as long as you trust in the Lord, he will bring you through this. Sabrena is an angel that God allowed us to borrow, and I am so blessed to have known her.

Sabrena was always ready to give great big hugs. It wasn't even a month ago she was standing in the outer office of UCS and I was standing in the inner office - she walked right through the door and wrapped her arms around me. But her God is wrapping His arms around her now. What a mighty God she served and what a wonderful woman of God Sabrena was. To you, her children, may I wrap my arms around you in your grief. Love you!

I had the pleasure of meeting and visiting with Sabrena several times during the recent Extreme Makeover in Hattiesburg, MS. She and her daughter were there the last day and celebrated with us at the wrap party. She was warm, gracious and giving. She praised God constantly and relied on Him completely. I am truly saddened that I will not have more time to spend with my new friend. I look forward to the day I will see her again in Heaven. My prayer for her three children and extended family is that God will hold you close and give you comfort during this time. You will be missed Sabrena!

Sabrena was my friend from Crossgates Baptist Church Choir and I loved her, and I miss her. Sabrena was a friend to Jesus and she loved him and she showed her love.
My heart hurts for you the children, her Mother, Father and other family and friends. The Bible say their is time for everything under heaven, and this is a difficult time that will get better with time. I lost my husband 12 years ago and it took time for me to see the sunshine, smell the roses and not feel like a bug that hit the windshield of a moving car, but to give you hope you will one day wake up and you can smile at the thought of your Mother, your daughter, your friend. God is the great healer. I will keep each of you Children and Family in my prayers.

My prayers and condolences goes out to the Cooper-Jones family. I have known this family for so many years and everyone always made me feel like a sister. Sabrena was always praising God, always. It was always a part of her greeting to you. She truly believed that prayer changes things. Now my prayer is that the family will stay strong and know that Sabrena has made it to THE MANSION! Her prayers earned her the Extreme Makeover Home, but the way she lived her life has earned her a room in the Lord Jesus home. Yay Sabrena! You have been an inspriration to so many people. You will be missed by many, but if we live and love in the Lord Jesus, we will see you again!

I beg you, Lord,
help me accept the partings that must come --
from friends who go away,
my children leaving home,
and most of all, my dear ones
when you shall call them to yourself.

Then, give me the grace to say:
"As it has pleased you, Lord,
to take them home,
I bow to your most holy will.
And if by just one word
I might restore their lives against your will,
I would not speak."
Grant them eternal joy.

Sabrina loved her God, believed her God, served her God, shared her God, and is now with her God! What a woman of God! She was such an encourager to everyone she met - stranger or friend. Marjon, Mardaireus, and Marjiya, you have such a heritage from your Mom... continue to walk it out in your own lives as she has shown you through her example. The last time we met she bragged on all 3 of you, gave God the glory, and asked me to continue to pray for each of you... I am and I will.

I met Sabrina and her family while the crew from ABC was filming her "Extreme Home Make Over" I was over joyed that the Jones family was getting their dream home. I photographed different stages while it was being built. I feel for the Jones family in their time of sorrow and wish that the legacy that Sabrina left, will be carried on.

I am so sorry and saddened about the passing of Sabrena. I first came to know Sabrena when I worked at Rankin Medical Center (now known as Crossgates River Oaks). Then I got to see her at Scott Regional Hospital in Morton where she also worked. She was always so cheerful, happy and smiling. Never had a bad word about anybody. Always talking about being bleseed and the Lord which I appreciate.
She is now in her Heavenly Home with our Lord and Savior. She will get to celebrate Jesus' birthday in Heaven with HIM.

The Lord needed a NEW ANGEL and he definitely got one.

A Friend and Sister in Christ will surely be missed.

You and your family are in my prayers.
