Samuel Williams Obituary

Samuel Williams was born, February 6, 1932 in Madison, Mississippi to the late Taylor and Rosie Russell Williams. He was the oldest of seven children born to this union. Two siblings preceded him in death.
He confessed Christ as his personal Savior at Simon Hill M.B. Church under the leadership of the late Reverend Washington Cole. In April of 2003, Sammie reconciled his life with Christ and joined Mt. Charity Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. Bennie Ervin.
Samuel attended school in Madison County and graduated from Holy Ghost Catholic School in Jackson, MS. Upon graduating, he moved to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida where he worked until he was drafted into the United States Army (1953). He served in the Korean War as a Staff Sergeant. On December 3, 1955, the Lord blessed him with a devoted and loving wife, Minnie Lee Coleman and they were blessed with seven children, Tyrone Coleman of Jackson, MS, Rashell (Michael) Spencer of Houston, TX, Samuel Earl Williams of Jackson, MS, Joyce Shiro of Houston, TX, Marvin (Veldermere) Williams of Jackson, MS, Michael (Sarita) Williams of Jackson, MS, and Rosalind Williams of Ridgeland, MS.
In March of 1995, after 40 years of service, Samuel retired from the University of Mississippi Medical Center as a Storeroom Manager.
His memory will forever live in the hearts and minds of all who knew him including his dedicated wife and loving children; grandchildren, Darrell Williams, Davita Harris, Kelvin Williams, Edmond Williams, Lakeisha Coleman, Edrin Williams, Kareem Coleman, Nicholas Williams, Samuel D. Williams, Mikalen Williams, and Syeira Williams; two great-grandchildren: Donnavan Williams and D'zaria Womack; sisters, Thelma Walton of Ridgeland, MS; Annie (Fillmore) Williams of Madison, MS; and brothers, John (Cleo) Williams of Ridgeland, MS, Joseph (Henrietta) Williams of Ridgeland, MS.
Two brothers, Roy Williams and Taylor Williams, Jr. preceded him in death; two aunts, Emma Harris of Jackson, MS, Albertha Matthews of Detroit, MI; two uncles, Floyd Harris of Jackson, MS, Fred (Chris) Harris of Portland, Oregon; mother-in-law, Thelma Coleman, Ridgeland, MS; sisters-in-law: Ada Williams and Sadie Coleman, both of Ridgeland, MS, Mary Cole, Thelma Coleman Jr., Loubertha Coleman and Shirley Coleman all of Jackson, MS; brother-in-law, Curtis Coleman of Ridgeland, MS; a special daughter-in-law, Greta Coleman of Baton Rouge, LA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
