Shirley Merrell Hancock, RN, died peacefully Thursday, June 30, 2016 at Simpson General Hospital in Mendenhall. She was born November 6, 1930 and was a graduate of Sacred Heart High School in Dearborn, MI and the St. Joseph School of Nursing in Mt. Clements, MI.

Shirley was a devout Catholic. She was Director of Nursing at Grenada County Hospital and spent the balance of her career in local public health until retirement.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Don; parents, Frank and Helen Merrell and one brother, Frank.

She is survived by two sons, Michael of Grenada, and Charles and his wife, Cindy, of Moselle; one daughter, Suzanne of Grenada; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

The family would like to thank the Staff of Simpson General Hospital for the excellent care and compassion shown to Mom during her illness.

A graveside service will be held at 3:00 PM Saturday, July 2, 2016 at Grenada Memorial Garden with Father Savio officiating. Family and friends will gather from 1:00 PM until service time Saturday at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service.
