Stephanie Flynt Obituary

Stephanie Bell Flynt

Brandon, MS - Stephanie Bell Flynt, 55, died, with her family by her side, on Wednesday, June 6, 2018, at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. She courageously fought cancer for two years, never losing her faith in God. A Celebration of life service will held 10am Friday at Pinelake Church in Flowood, MS. Interment will follow in Lakeland Place Garden Park Cemetery. There will be no visitation prior to service.

The daughter of Inez Etheridge Bell and the late Benoyd H. Bell, Steph was born August 3, 1962, in Centreville, MS. She was a 1980 graduate of Amite School Center, and she graduated from Mississippi State University in 1984 with a degree in Communications. While at Mississippi State, Steph was a proud member of the Delta Gamma Sorority and an MSU Cheerleader.

Stephanie moved to Jackson in 1986 where she enjoyed a long television broadcasting career, serving as an anchor and medical matters reporter. She received numerous awards, including a year-long fellowship from the Association of Health Care Journalists. Stephanie was inducted into the Mississippi Associated Press Broadcasters Hall of Fame in 2009.

Over the years, Stephanie selflessly gave back through service. She helped raise thousands of dollars for St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital. Additionally, she was honored by the American Cancer Society for her work on the Power of Pink and the American Heart Association for the Red Dress Campaign.

Stephanie's love for her family was immeasurable. She is survived by her husband of 27 years, Mike Flynt; their children, Hunter, and his wife Serena, Mac, and his fiancée Natalie, Stephanie "Stevie", and Joe Ben, all of Brandon; mother, Inez Bell of Gloster; and siblings, Benny Bell, of McComb, MS, Connie Rasor, of Miramar Beach, FL, Willie Bell, of Gloster, MS, and Dr. Hallie Bell, of Hattiesburg, MS.

She was preceded in death by her father, "Mayor" Benoyd Bell.

Rest In Peace dear, friend. I admired your strength
In God by keeping everybody updated on your condition i will always remember, when we went to church together and my mom teaching our Sunday school class. I was especially proud when you became a journalist on tv. May God comfort your family during this difficult time.

Just wanted the Flynt family to know that Chris and I are thinking, praying and thankful in this difficult time for Stephanie. She brought life and energy everywhere she went and her family has done so much for this community. I can still see her and Mike in the stands at the 2008 5A Soccer championships with the quilt supporting the Fullerton family and the NWRHS state champs where the Flynt boys built and continued the winning tradition on the pitch (where Mike and Step dedicated countless hours supporting youth soccer). We love you, are appreciative of you and provide our heartfelt sympathy to the entire Flynt family as we all lost a great lady, soccer mom, reporter, wife, mother, friend, etc.

What a wonderful lady and a wonderful family.
She fought a tough fight. Now she is at peace with the Lord. My sincere sympathy for Mike and their children. You just have to remember that she is in a better place and out of pain.
