Stephen Roddy Obituary

Stephen R. Roddy, 82, born December 18, 1923 to Stephen R. and Evelyn Roddy in Chattanooga, Tenn., passed away Tuesday, November 2, 2006 in Houston.

Married to the former Martha Seale Baine of Gloster, MS, Dr. Roddy was an Aviation Cadet in the U.S. Army Air Force during WWII and was a Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Air Force Reserve. He received his M.D. from University of Tennessee Medical Branch in Memphis where he also completed his residency in General Surgery. He completed the program in Pediatric Surgery at the University of Pennsylvania Children's Hospital. He was a Diplomate of the American Board of Surgery, Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, Member of the Southeastern Surgical Congress and the Harris County Medical Society.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, William Roddy and granddaughter, Stephanie Howard.

Dr. Roddy is survived by his wife of 55 years, Martha Seale Baine Roddy; children, Libby Rook and husband, Jeff, Bill Roddy and wife, Carrie, Mary Howard and husband, David; grandchildren, Kyle, Josh and Mason Rook; Chris and Amanda Roddy; Samantha and Andrea Howard; sister, Evelyn Walldorf; nephews, Roddy Noll, Michael and Stephen Roddy; cousin, Stephen Roddy; brother-in-law, Louis Baine, Jr.; sister-in-law, Ann Fortson.

A Memorial Service was held at 4p.m. Saturday, November 4, 2006 at Grace Presbyterian Church, 10221 Ella Lee Lane with Dr. John Bisagno officiating.
