Stephen Strong Obituary
Utica
Stephen Scott Strong of Utica died at home Tuesday, June 10, 2014. He was 50. Steve held a Master's degree from Auburn University in Ornamental Horticulture. He worked for many years as a County Agent for multiple counties in Mississippi. He also taught horticulture for Jefferson State Community College in Birmingham, Alabama. He was born in Montgomery, Alabama but lived most of his adult life in Mississippi.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lenton W. Strong of Utica.
Survivors include two daughters, Anna Elaine and Alison Lee Strong of Birmingham, Alabama; mother Ann B. Strong; brother, David L. Strong (Sylvia); sister, Barbara Thum (Michael); two nieces and one nephew, all of Utica, MS.
Visitation will be Monday, June 16, 2014, beginning at 9 a.m. at the Utica Christian Church with the service to follow at 11 a.m. Brother Brad Hartzog will be officiating. The burial will be at the Cayuga Cemetery.
Memorial donations can be made to the Cayuga Cemetery fund, 3043 Old Port Gibson Road, Utica, MS 39175.

Steve was such a great guy, my heart is broken. Still can't believe he is gone. We had become close friends. I keep looking for him to come up our driveway, unannounced of course, music blaring, guitar in hand, and always ready for a good time! Tammy and me are gonna miss him very much.

Steve worked with us in Philadelphia, MS., when he worked with the Choctaw Indians. He was so smart and I always think of his love for music when I hear his name. So sorry for his early death and the loss to his family.

Steve was a valued member of the Lauderdale County community, always helpful and knowledgeable as our county agent. He was a great interview as well. So sorry for his family that he died at such a young age. May God comfort you all.
