Susie Douglas Obituary

Susie Owen Johnson Douglas, 93, passed away peacefully Saturday, March 6, 2010, in Germantown, TN.
She was a lifelong member of Woodland Hills Baptist Church and spent her entire working career as an administrative assistant with South Central Bell and Bell South, both in Jackson, MS. She moved to Memphis in 2003, where she joined Second Baptist Church. She was a member in good standing of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Pilot Club International. Mrs. Douglas was born in Lena, MS, September 1, 1916, the daughter of the late James Richard and Fannie Boyd Johnson.
She was preceded in death by her three brothers, Billie C. Johnson, Gerald Johnson, and Randolph Johnson.
She is survived by her niece, Geraldine Johnson Byrnes of Memphis; her nephew, Jeffrey Judson Johnson of Gulf Port, MS; her first cousin, Mary Bernice Townsend Percy of Covington, LA, with whom she grew up; two grandnephews, William H. Byrnes, Jr., of Franklin, TN and Wells Huntington Byrnes of Danville, VA; and many great-grandnieces, grandnephews, and cousins.
Graveside services and interment will be at Lena Cemetery, Lena (MS) on Saturday, March 13, 2010, at 1:00 P.M.
Memorials may be sent to Woodland Hills Baptist Church in Jackson, MS or Second Baptist Church of Memphis. (Canale Funeral Directors, 901-452-6400).
