(Continued from 18 June 2019) So! The next day Dad and I were fishing on Lake Itasca. It was overcast when we set out but it was warm and we would NOT submit to mother natures bi-polar whims. We were fishing off of an island point about a 1.5 Kilometres from the dock. It started raining so I began packing up my fishing gear. I was in the bow (front) of the canoe Dad was at the stern. Dad said "What are ya' doing? We're still fishing man." I said okay and threw my line out again. No sooner did my lure hit the water when a thunderhead came in above us. A driving wind, tons of rain and lightning on the lake. We agreed it was time to go back lol. We turned to port and started rowing toward the dock. We were completely soaked and I could barely see, the dock through the rain. I remember rowing like crazy, the lake was so choppy that we were taking on water. We got about halfway to the dock and I was pretty close to muscle failure. I turned around to check on Dad. He was sitting in the stern, his oar was across his lap and he was smiling at me..........I was the only one rowing! Dad started laughing (while lightning was hitting the water) This was living on the edge for REAL. Dad started rowing again a we picked up speed. We got about 150 meters from the dock and massive tail wind hit us from behind. We were MOVIN'. Dad yelled "Oars Up!" I pulled my oar into the canoe. We were moving so fast that when we hit the beach next to the dock so hard that 2/3rds of the canoe was on land. It was amazing! Our boots didn't even touch the lake when we left the canoe. I would give ANYTHING to take that ride with Dad again.

Shout out to Doug....it is so strange to me how in life Terry didn't believe in anything especially mystical things but there are so many mystical occurrences of his presence to us since his death. I know I look for them now...Terry you would be proud of us and hug us. We welcome you and set you free.

Before Terry's passing we had buried Terry an Dick's mom's ashes with my mom at Woodlawn Cemetery. Unable to attend the gathering I went out to the cemetery When we returned to check on the headstone I had made for there mother. Everything was good an I started to leave when I spotted something moving on one of those headstones that look like a broken dead tree. When I saw it I was at a loss for words. Lucky I had my Cannon Power Shot. NUFF SAID

I remember going fishing with Dad on Lake Itasca, while he was stationed at Grand Forks ND. One summer we went there with a canoe strapped to the top of Dad's car. Half way there a nasty gust of wind hit us and the straps loosened up. The canoe slid down the side of the car and we were sliding it down the interstate. LOL The canoe was actually a rental from Morale Welfare and Recreation on Grand Forks AFB. I guess they weren't too happy about it being scraped up. Anyway, being the adventurous risk takers that we were we took that scraped up canoe to the headwaters of the Mississippi and went fishing anyway........even though the hull was paper thin LOL! I'll tell you what happened while were actually on the lake on Dad's next anniversary. I miss you Dad, we got into some stuff together :D

Dad, I miss you everyday of my life. I remember everything you have taught me to survive. I remember all of our fun times , playing army men and having wars in the living room in England as you play a cd of the bagpipes to make it more real.
I remember our laughs and late nite coffee talks as if it were yesterday.
I remember our father and son Toledo trips when we talked for hours and all of a sudden we run out of highway and we dont want to stop.
It is hard to go through the few things I have of you because I still smell you. Sandalwood is in the air .
Dad, I miss my Real Life Hero.. I Miss You so very much.
I will do what you always say 1St Sergeant.. We Must Press On Rich.
I am Dad but I must tell you it is very hard without my Hero.
I love you so much and miss you til my last breath.
