Tommy Porter Obituary

Tommy Gene Porter

Tommy Gene Porter passed away Dec. 28, 2020 at the age of 82. He was born Jan 28, 1938 in Coffeeville Ms to Charles and Ruby Porter. He married Patricia (Sue) Porter Aug 15, 1959 and they were married for 61 wonderful years. They had 2 children, Charles and Donna.

Tommy enlisted in the army at the age of 16 and became a Service Airman First Class from 1954-1957. He transferred to the Air Force from 1957-1974 and retired as Master Sergeant. After retiring from the Air Force he went to work for General Service Administration in Jackson Ms. After retirement from GSA he started his own construction company.

Tommys favorite thing to do was to fish at Eagle Lake. He loved his friends and boy did they tell some stories. When he would leave to go fishing he'd always say 'I'm going to go try and trick a fish' and believe me there a lot of tricking going on.

Tommy was an honorable man, he always was honest and goodhearted. He loved everyone and everyone loved him. He was known as PopPaw Slick, not only by his great grandchildren but all that loved him. He wore that name with pride.

Tommy is preceded in death by his mother and father Charles and Ruby and brother David Allen Porter. He is survived by his loving wife Sue, his sister Betty Jo Summers, son Charles (Cherri) Daughter Donna (Bret) Grandchildren Matt (Marie) Brittany (Jimmy Dale) Ashely (Tony) and Cady Porter. Great Grandchildren, Gray, Graham, Cameron, Cason and Porter. He also leaves 4 nieces and 2 nephews.

Tommy, you were a great supervisor and friend that showed and taught me lots of things, took me and my wife to France for a visit when we stationed in Germany. May your RIP.
