Walter Burkhalter Obituary

Mr. Walter Guy Burkhalter, Sr. 83, farmer, passed away Thursday, April 19, 2007 at Tri-Lakes Medical Center of Batesville, MS. Visitation for Mr. Burkhalter will be Saturday, April 21, 2007 at Dickins Funeral Home 1 to 3 p.m. following services at 3 p.m. in Dickins Chapel with burial in Enid-Oak Hill Cemetery.
Rev. Clay Baker will officiate the services.
Pallbearers are Dane Callihan, David Eastridge, Bobby Burkhalter, Gary Epps, Michael Roberson, Jerry Roberson, Thad Burkhalter, and George Jennings
Honorary Pallbearers: Thomas Deaton, Joe House, T.J. Flowers, Hoot Gowen, K.K. Gowen, C Boy Suggs, and George Payne Cossar, Jr.
Memorials may be sent to North Delta in Batesville, Strider Academy Charleston, MS and Indianola Academy, Indianola, MS.
Mr. Burkhalter was born Oct. 9, 1923 to Guy William and Gladys Johnson Burkhalter. He was the widower of Mrs. Claudine Snow Burkhalter. Mr. Burkhalter was a member of Enid Union Church, veteran of WWII, Marine Corps, a recipient of two purple hearts and the bronze star. Avid TN Walking Horse Owner and Promoter, Bird hunter, Deer hunter, Fox hunter, Coon hunter and Squirrel Hunter and Very faithful Farmer and Cattleman.
Mr. Burkhalter is survived by his daughters: Kathy Roberson and husband Jerry of Enid and Betty Sue Gregg and husband Wayne of Batesville; two sons: Walter Guy Burkhalter, Jr. and wife Jacki of Indianola and James W. "Jimbo" Burkhalter and wife Barbara of Enid one sister Betty Smith of New Albany and eight grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his parents and wife Claudine Snow Burkhalter , sisters Adelese Tarrant and Ester Bridgeforth and brother Robert "Bob" Burkhalter.
