Wayne Finlayson Obituary
Laurel
Wayne Steen Finlayson, 69, of Laurel, passed away on April 11, 2017, at his residence.
Visitation will be held beginning at 9 a.m. on Friday, April 14, 2017, at Memory Chapel with the funeral service to follow at 11 at the chapel of Memory Chapel. Interment will be at MS Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 258 Honors Circle, Newton, MS at 1 p.m. Friday. Rev. David Moore and Rev. Dale Moore will officiate.
Mr. Finlayson was retired from TEC where he worked as a technical support manager. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy and was a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church in Alabama. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and loved his cats. He will also be remembered as a fan of Alabama football and NASCAR.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James L. and Sara Steen Finlayson.
Survivors include his wife of 24 years, Deborah Finlayson; two sisters, Patricia Wiley and Joy Nowlin; nephew, Kit Nowlin; cousin, William Steen; and a host of other cousins.

Wayne and I were buddies in 1967, while we both attended radioman "A" school in San Diego, California. We were practically inseparable, and we had some memorable times. After graduating from "A" school we went on to our duty stations. Wayne to Japan, and I to the USS Long Beach. We lost touch until I googled Wayne's name and found his phone number. That was about seven or eight years ago. We had a long telephone conversation and that was the last time we spoke. Today I once again googled Wayne's name and to my surprise found his obituary. I wish I would have called a few months sooner! Wayne was a memorable buddy who I will look forward to seeing in heaven. RIP in peace my friend.
