William George Cannon, Jr.

Brandon

William George Cannon, Jr., 79, passed away in his sleep on Wednesday, October 26, 2016, at his home surrounded by his family. Funeral services will be held at 11 am Saturday, October 29, 2016 at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS with the interment service at 3:30 pm Saturday, October 29, 2016 at the Indianola City Cemetery in Indianola, MS. Visitation will be held from 5 pm until 7 pm Friday, October 28, 2016 and Saturday from 10-11 am at the funeral home. Rev. Mitchell Hedgepeth will officiate the service. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Brandon, MS.

Mr. Cannon was born in Leland, MS to William George Cannon, Sr. and Daisy Sparks Cannon and grew up in Cary, MS where he graduated from high school. He is a Life Member of Delta State Alumni Association where he earned his degree in Accounting and Math. He was married to Jimmie Ruth Barton Cannon. Mr. Cannon had a very successful career as an Accountant and served many companies in that capacity. He served his country in the Army National Guard and in the Air Force Guard. He was a founding member of the Permanent Endowment Fund for St. Matthews United Methodist Church. In Memphis, Bill was the company representative for SUN (Shelby United Neighbors) campaign and served again in Tulsa in the same capacity for the United Way. He was a member of the Brandon First United Methodist Church and the Fellowship Sunday School Class. He loved his family very much and spending time with them brought great joy to his life. He will be missed by all who loved and knew him.

Mr. Cannon was preceded in death by his parents, William George Cannon, Sr. and Daisy Sparks Cannon; sisters, Frances C. Walls and Margaret C. Lemasters.

Mr. Cannon is survived by his wife, Jimmie Ruth Cannon; daughters, Janis C. (Troy) Pelias, Nancy C. Reed and Anne Lucille Cannon; five grandchildren, Kaci Pelias, Austin Pelias, Mallory Reed, Macy Reed and Faith Wise; many other family members and a host of friends.

Memorials may be made to Brandon First United Methodist Church at 205 Mary Ann Drive, Brandon, MS 39042 or a charity of your choice.
