I met Cody while working for my dad at his Classic Restorations shop. One day, he came by to use the restroom and overheard me cracking a joke. He laughed so hard that from then on, whenever I saw him, I made it a point to tell another one just to keep that smile going. Over time, he started opening up to me about his life, how he used to be a truck driver, and how his health struggles eventually led to him needing a liver transplant.

When I stopped working at the shop because I no longer had a babysitter, I didn´t see him every day anymore, but that never ended our connection. We didn´t text constantly, but he always made sure to keep me updated on how he was doing. We also had our own little thing, sending each other ridiculous AI gorilla videos. Once, I sent him one that he accidentally forwarded to his grandma, and she told him he should be reading the Bible instead. We laughed about that for days.

With Cody, there was truly never a dull moment.
