Gladys Pauline Gardner was born on December 2, 1929, to the parents of Helen and Herman Gardner in Dover, Tennessee. She departed this earthly life and gained her wings on Tuesday, January 14, 2025.
Gladys accepted the Lord Jesus Christ at a young age and united with East Oak Grove Baptist Church. She was married to Howell “Skeet” Mockabee.
Gladys received her formal education in the Stewart County School attending Dover Colored School. She worked for many years as a domestic worker and caregiver.
In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, picking four leaf clovers, but she mostly enjoyed her walk with Jesus and being a faithful servant.
Those left to cherish her sweet memories are her children, Mary Newsome, Ruth (Joseph) Barrow, Howell (Helena) Mockabee; grandchildren, Yekeechia (Juan) Yancey; Joseph (Ryann) Barrow Jr., Eugenia (Floyd) Gibson, Jason Barrow, Joelle Barrow, Stephen Mockabee, Brittany Mockabee; great grandchildren, John Yancey, Aliyah Gibson, Laila Gibson, Paul Yancey, Brianna Barrow, Kaiden Barrow, Kayla Barrow, Makayle Mockabee; special family, Judy, Edward, and Kathryn Cherry; and a host of other family relatives and friends.
