William Stokes, Jr. Obituary

William R. Stokes, Jr., passed away peacefully at his home in Woodlawn, Tennessee on March 8, 2025, at the age of 76. Born on July 22, 1948, in Clarksville, Tennessee, William lived a life characterized by his genuine spirit, positivity, and generous heart.

William dedicated several years of his career as a Maintenance Supervisor at the former Acme Boot Company in Clarksville, where he was known for his strong work ethic and commitment to excellence. Beyond his professional accomplishments, he was a beloved father and brother, deeply committed to his family. He is survived by his daughters, Daniele Brown (Tom) and Angie Robertson (Chris), and his sister, Peggy Jensen (Andy), and his grandchildren, Hunter Robertson, Gatlin Brown, Kaydin Brown, Westin Brown, Amelia Robertson, and Emily Robertson. William also leaves behind his beloved best four-legged friend, Jake.

A man who loved to cook, especially grilling, William cherished the time spent creating memories at family gatherings and shared meals. His laughter and kindness were gifts that enriched the lives of everyone around him. He was a dependable presence, always ready with a supportive word or a warm hug.

In addition to his parents, William R. Stokes Sr. and Dollie Killebrew Stokes, William was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Shirley Stokes, with whom he shared 41 joyful years (1970-2011). Their love was an enduring example of partnership and devotion.
