To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord, II Corinthians 5:8.
In her final hour on this earth surrounded by her family, Carol Taylor went home to be with the Lord on Nov. 5, 2024. It was a peaceful and holy passing. Carol was a loving wife, proud mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who loved art, horses and the mountains. Most of all, Carol was a devoted follower of Christ whose infectious smile and laughter brought joy to all that knew her.
Carol was born in Panama City, Fla. on June 24, 1939. She graduated from Bay High School in 1957 and became Miss Panama City in 1958. She also studied art at Wesleyan College in Macon, Ga. then later returned home to Panama City where she married her high school sweetheart, Ted Watson Sr. and became a mother to her only child Ted Watson Jr. Carol eventually moved to Ormond Beach, Fla. where she spent most of her time raising her son, painting and horseback riding. Ultimately it was the beauty of the Appalachian Mountains that led Carol to move to north Georgia where she spent the majority of her remaining years. Carol loved the mountains and the people who lived there who loved her back. Carol spent most of her career in banking. After retiring from United Community Bank, she became treasurer for Christ the King Anglican Church in Hiawassee, Ga. where she was also a member.
Carol is preceded in death by her loving parents, Isadore Schneider and Myrtice Pettis Schneider. She is survived by her husband, Clyde Taylor; son Ted Watson Jr. and his wife, Karry; two sisters, Kathy Marchant and Tracie Schneider; three grandchildren, Jennifer Stelly and her husband Jason; Stephanie Pacheco and her husband, Marcio, T.J. Watson and his wife, Cassidy. Carol also has five great-grandchildren: Aiden, Gabriel, Isaiah, Gavin and Madilyn.
