Paul Mayfield Obituary
He was born in Bluntsville, Ala. and the son of the late Dewitt Talmage and Ethel Ruth Sparks Mayfield. Paul had been pastoring for more than 72 years. He pastored in Alabama, Ohio, Tennessee and local tri-state churches. He enjoyed working in his yard, cutting wood and loved animals. Paul was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church in Hayesville.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by an infant son, Terry Gene Mayfield, and several brothers and sisters.
He is survived by his wife of 75 years, Shirley Callahan Mayfield; two sons, Paul Mayfield, Jr. (Jimmie) of Knoxville, Tenn.and Tommy Mayfield (Dianne) of Hayesville; one daughter, Mary Matheson (Buddy) of Hayesville; seven grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 9 at First Free Will Baptist Church. Rev. Chris Rumfelt officiated. Burial was in the Union Hill Cemetery.
