Stacey Cassedy Obituary

Stacey Hitchcock Cassedy, 60, of Hayesville, passed away Sunday, Dec. 29, 2024 following a brief battle with cancer.
Stacey grew up in Pensacola, Fla. and was an avid runner. She graduated from the University of West Florida as a registered nurse specializing in oncology, epidemiology and school nursing. Stacey was passionate about the environment and animals and spent her time volunteering with various organizations including the McDowell Sonoran Conservancy, the Clay County School System, Mountain True, Clay County Master Gardeners and the Appalachian Trail Conservancy.
She was the daughter of Beth Hitchcock, of Hayesville, and the late Joe Hitchcock. In addition to her father, she was also preceded in death by a brother, Joey Hitchcock.
Surviving are her loving husband of 40 years, Rory Cassedy, of Hayesville; mother, Beth Hitchcock; daughters, Cortney Tremer and husband, Jesse, of Warner Robins, Ga., Britney Granthum and husband, Wesley, of Lowndesboro, Ala., and Rori Cassedy, of Scottsdale, Ariz.; granddaughters, Cassidy Tremer, Camryn Hess and Callie Tremer; one brother, Michael Hitchcock and wife, Rhonda; one sister, Cyndee Gaidosh and husband, Stephen, of Pensacola, Fla.; sisters-in-laws, Syndie Cassedy and husband, Tim, Gigi Cassedy and husband, Calvin, and Debbie Hitchcock.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation and gratitude to Amy, hospice nurse with Hospice of North Carolina, and our family and friends for their enormous support throughout this difficult journey.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 27 at Good Shepherd Episcopal Church with Father Bill Breedlove officiating.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made in memory of Stacey Hitchcock Cassedy to Mountain True, Clay County Master Gardeners Club, Good Shepherd Episcopal Church, Nantahala Hiking Club or your local Appalachian trail affiliate.
