Dear Zofcin Family,
I wanted to thank you all for the contributions you made as parents and as siblings for molding Bernie into the person he became. With out each of you, I would have never had the opportunity to have known such a great mentor and friend. My prayers are still with you today.
Bernie - I never thought of you as a boss, though you were. You were my friend. Thank you for the Roger Waters concert, the Tribe games, our political discussions, Chevy Chase moments and quotes, Parallax and being there to listen in times of need. Mostly, thank you for always making time for me when I was in town on business. I will always remember your two valuable lessons; exude confidence in everything you do; always remain calm. I will truly miss you.
Your friend,
Jen Mahony

Bernie has been a rock to us in a challenging design and building project. My life has been incredibly enriched by his presence. As the steel rises on our site, I am reminded of a strong, gentle man who could see beyond the lines on paper, to the people who would walk through the doors. What a gift he was to all of us.

Dear Zofcin family:
I was deeply saddened to learn of your loss. I have known and worked collabortatively with Bernie over the last twenty-some years, since days together at a firm where he became a partner. What a sincere and upstanding individual we - and especially you - have lost. He leaves us with my greatest respect. I sincerely believe the world is a little worse off with his passing.
With my sincere condolences,
Jim Seiple

Hi guys! This is your cousin and niece Lisa Zofcin(Robert's daughter). I did love Buzz even though I didn't know him well or see him often. I feel the heartache of losing someone close like you. I loved Mickey's 'speech' entirely. I need some input from him concerning what were the quotes he took from the Dr. Seuss book please fill me in and let me know. thanks. Also I hope you will enjoy life and love it to the fullest now even more so. My love to you all and I will miss him too. It's just a shame fate does what it does but at least he isn't in pain any longer. I'm sure heaven is loving and enjoys having him for golf playing and designing new things for them. May you each find peace and contentment in the days/years ahead. I pray for you.
**please when someone has time please send me info from the Dr. Seuss references. that made me cry like crazy. ---thanks for the copy Mick :( :) hugs to you all.

My twin sister, Linda, and I met Bernie 33 years ago when he was attending UC and we were in high school. For three decades we have had the joy of Bernie in the Haller family. He has shared his laugh and love for life with all of us. We haven't lived in the same city for years, yet Bernie has been a rock solid friend ever since those days of Sanders Hall.
Bernie has been with us for special occasions, Reds games, concerts, re-unions and alot of fun times. Bernie's strong character and terrific sense of humor are a rare and precious combination.
Linda flew from Washington, D.C. to be there today while the rest of the Haller family stands by with heartfelt sympathy to the Zofcin family. We are stunned. Our world has lost a dear friend and remarkable person way too early.
Bernie, could you laugh for us?

Bernie was a dear friend for 10 years. And, I vividly remember the day I met him. I knew we would be friends for many years to come. Bernie was a great friend, mentor and just one of thee most special people I have EVER met. Bernie was the eternal optimist and ALWAYS had good things to say about people. He was a great friend who gave great advice and could cheer me & everyone up with his laughter and wit. Any of my friends who ever came in contact with Bernie--even if it was just once--would always ask, "How is that friend of yours, Bernie?" He made a lasting, favorable impression and was a remarkable man. I am still in shock and disbelief. I feel very blessed to have had him in my life. My heartfelt condolences to his family.

My sincerest sympathies go out to the Zofcin Family.
Bernie was the kind of person you only meet once in a lifetime. I can’t imagine the endless list of friends, acquaintances and colleagues he beguiled with his intelligence, talent, fabulous sense of humor and unforgettable charm. He was loved by so many, which is why his loss is so heartbreaking. I loved his laugh, his great sense of style and his groovy facial follicular accoutrements. He was a fun, fascinating and adorable man, and I feel incredibly lucky he considered me a friend. There are too many things I'll miss about him to list them all here.
I think he’d be flattered by the story in Tuesday’s Plain Dealer, which called him an “energetic bachelor”. That made me smile…

I was saddened to learn of Bernie's passing as it was just a short ime ago we were laughing and planning the upcoming golf season. The world has lost a good man, great friend and a free spirit. Bernie must have had an early tee time in heaven to have left so quick. God Bless You - Z!

Bernie was one you made friends with quickly and never forgot about. I’ll miss his always upbeat attitude and calmness under pressure. It’s sad that I only knew Bernie for a few years. He had so much to give. All of us in the parks and recreation profession that had the opportunity to work with Bernie are better for it.
Thanks for all you did during your short time on earth. God Bless.

I am very sorry to hear of Bernie's passing. I graduated from Padua with Bernie and I have always felt that he was one of my dear friends, despite the fact that we have not seen each other in a long time. He has that effect on people. Once you met him, he was impossible to forget. My memories of our friendship will always be a part of my past that I cherish.

It's incredibly hard to believe that Bernie is actually gone. His departure happened so rapidly I imagine that this is an all too common sensation among his friends. My heartfelt sympathies go out to everyone in his family.
I have thought of him repeatedly during this very somber weekend. My wife and I will miss his humor, his wit and his charm for a very, very long time.
And I will never forget his unmistakable golf swing...
