Deanna B. Bontempo

84, of Berea, Ohio passed away on July 11, 2021. She was born on March 14, 1937 in Mansfield, Ohio to the late Michael and Eileen (nee McQuillen) Mihalick. Dee was a graduate of Mansfield Senior High, earned her bachelor's degree at Ohio University, and her master's degree at Baldwin-Wallace. Her first career was as a journalist and editor, but she became an English and Special Education teacher. She taught at Columbus North HS, Parma Senior, Greenbriar JHS, Shiloh JHS, Fay JHS, John Glenn, and Valley Forge. Her favorite hobby was her family, but she also loved playing Scrabble, gardening, reading, genealogy, scrapbooking, and writing. She was an elder and deacon at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church in Olmsted Falls. She will be deeply missed by her children Sara (James) Hodsden and Charles (Vicki) Bontempo; treasured grandchildren Tyler Shuchat, Thomas Hodsden, Joseph and Giancarlo Bontempo; sister Patricia Yoder; brother Michael (Zona) Mihalick; son-in-law Dan Shuchat; sister-in-law Carolyn Mihalick; and many nieces and nephews. Deanna is preceded in death by her husband Charles, dear daughter Lora Shuchat, brother Ronald Mihalick, and brother-in-law Cal Yoder. A memorial service will be held for Deanna on Thursday, July 22, 2021, 10 AM, at the Sunset Chapel, 6245 Columbia Road, North Olmsted, Ohio 44070 with an hour prior visitation. Inurnment will follow at West Wood Abbey in Sunset Memorial Park in North Olmsted, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Deanna's honor to Christ United Church, 23114 W.
