GENE SIODLA Obituary

Gene was born November 13, 1941 and passed into God's hands on July 14, 2022. He was the beloved husband of Lesley, devoted dad to Christine, dear grandpa to Nora Evelyn, and caring pet parent to an assortment of animals. Gene leaves behind his wife, daughter, granddaughter, sister Colleen (Frank), nephews Steven (Lynn), David (Debbie), four great nieces and nephews, sister-in-law Karen, a slew of "bonus" cousins, and a host of good friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Berniece. Gene was a life-long resident of the Berea/Strongsville area. He graduated from Berea High School and went on to earn degrees from Baldwin-Wallace College and Kent State University. He was a proud veteran of the US Army serving in the Canine Corps. He taught Junior High and High School for 31 years. He also ran a successful remodeling business for many years. Gene, was a skilled and persnickety woodworker and craftsman who loved creating projects in his messy workshop. He and Lesley loved to travel, garden, ski, hike, bicycle, camp in their RV and motorcycle for most of their 53 years of marriage. He hated flying, but loved road trips. He often said if you throw a dart on a US Map, "We've been there!" He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed. He requested no service be held.

Gene was one of the best friends I ever had. we shared many woodworking projects together. I enjoyed the times we spent together in his shop and in mine. H was a professional educator who demonstrated care and patience with every one of his students. Lesley has earned a special place in heaven for her care of Gene in his last years.
