CHARLES WEAVER Obituary
CHARLES J. WEAVER
Charles J. Weaver, 97, of Sargent Rd. Bolton, Mass., passed away peacefully at River Terrace Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center, Lancaster, Mass., on February 1, 2025. The youngest of eight children, Charles was born in Leominster to John and Grace (Sharrock) Weaver on July 19, 1927.
In September of 2024, Charles was honored by the Bolton Senior Center as Bolton's oldest citizen. He is predeceased by his loving wife of 63 years, Helen (Galeski) Weaver, who died last year on March 30, 2024. Before her death, Helen had also been the recipient of Bolton's oldest citizen award. Both of them always insisted on old fashioned values of working hard, being polite and helping others in need.
In addition, to his wife and parents he is also preceded in death by his five brothers Carl, John, Alfred, James and Albert Weaver and two sisters Helen McNamara and Mary Davenport.
Charles leaves his four sons, Stephen J. Weaver and his wife Priscilla of Lunenburg, Mass.; Joseph M. Weaver and his wife Julie of St. Pete Beach, Fla.; Lawrence T. (Larry) Weaver and his wife Linda of Leominster, Mass., and Leon D. Weaver and his wife Karen of Cape Neddick, Maine. He also leaves 10 grandchildren, Kristy Colleton, Kimberly Moniz, Michael, Jonathan, Cailey, Matthew, Andrew, Liam, Elizabeth, and Caroline Weaver; eight great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Charles was a longtime employee of both Colonial Press in Clinton and Digital Equipment Corporation. He was also a member of St. John the Evangelist Church in Clinton for more than 60 years. He was an avid golfer and an active member of both the Twin Springs Golf Course in Bolton and Digital's golf leagues. Charles also took great pride in his gardens at his Bolton property. He also enjoyed frequent bingo games and many trips with his late wife, Helen, that were arranged by his sister Helen McNamara.
He was a Navy Veteran serving in the waning days of WWII. He joined when he was 17 years old, after graduation from Leominster High School where he played on the basketball and baseball teams. He was a lifelong Red Sox fan. He shared his love of sports with his sons, especially baseball, by showing them how to throw a curveball and because of its innate advantage to bat left-handed. Charlie and Helen could also be seen cheering their sons and nephews at Nashoba football games.
Known for his friendliness, warm wit and gentle spirit, Charles touched the lives of countless individuals. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by his family and everyone who knew him.
The family would also like to thank the staff and caregivers of River Terrace Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center for their professionalism and compassion during both Charles and Helen's final years.
