JAY MOODY Obituary

JAY MOODY Jay Moody, 82, of Lancaster MA, died after an accidental fall which resulted in an extended hospital stay on January 19, 2024. He was born in Newton, MA on November 14, 1941 to Chester and Loretta (Pouliot) Moody. He grew up in Acton, MA. Jay leaves behind his beloved wife, Joyce Moody of Lancaster, MA. They were married on September 1, 1962 in Acton, MA. Later moved to Lancaster, MA in 1974 and have resided in the same residence for 50 years. Jay leaves behind his son Lee Moody of Los Angeles California, brother Peter Moody of Truro, MA, sister Lynne MacPherson of Tucson, AZ. He was predeceased by his daughter, Lorna Moody in 2024 and his parents Chester and Loretta Moody. Graduated from Acton High School (1959). After high school Jay worked with George Wilkes, his father-in-law, to begin learning the HVAC trade. He later started his own HVAC business, Jay M. Moody, Inc in 1964 which he had and expanded the business servicing many local residential and commercial businesses. Jay had the business for over 48 years before later selling it. Jay was part of the Boxborough Minuteman, he enjoyed marching and attending Fifer's Day for many years. He was a selectman in the town of Lancaster and on many different committees in the town throughout his time living here he especially enjoyed being a part of the Council of Aging later in his life. He enjoyed traveling to Spain, England, Ireland, Germany, Austria, St. John, Italy, France, Croatia, Belgium, Bosnia, many Caribbean islands, Mexico, Canada and many more with both family and friends over the years. He enjoyed sightseeing, partaking in beer festivals, and geocaching all over the world. Jay would always be one to stay busy whether it be playing with his favorite dogs, most recently, Ziva and Beni, puttering in the yard, and staying busy with his wife in their home. Later on in his retired life he would enjoy short rides around town to the local shops to say hello to the many friends around town, pick up a favorite drink for his wife or himself and visit the town offices. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. www.richardsonfuneralhome.net Donations in Jay's honor can be made on behalf of his daughter, Lorna Moody, who succumbed to cancer earlier this January to Dana Farber Division of Philanthropy 10 Brookline Place West Brookline, MA 02445. So sad about the death of my good friend Jay. Prayers too to his family who have undergone loss lately.
Jay & I met through the expanded Boxborough Minuteman associations. We went on a number of European trips together, frequently as roommates. He had such a sharp mind while being kind & resourceful. I will miss him greatly.

Joyce, I am so sorry to hear of Jay's passing. Know you are in my thoughts and send my love to you. Jay was such a wonderful friend to John and me. I will always remember how kind and his visits were to John. Grace
