Atlas Howard
Atlas Howard, 75, of Evergreen Church Road, Salemburg, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2022 at his residence.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 2, at Mingle Hill Disciples of Christ Church (100 Zoar Church Road, Salemburg, NC 28385). Interment will be at the Rich Family Cemetery (Big Piney Grove Church Road, Clinton, NC).
Public viewing will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 1, at Butler & Son Funeral Home Inc., Roseboro.
To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.

To Atlas´ family
I was the School Secretary at Hart, Westover and Stark School and in the Summer School Office.
Your dad was an incredible man. Always kept his cool. If a child was on the wrong bus or dropped off at the wrong stop - he never panicked (I did) and would correct the situation. He was a kind, kind man. I must say - he was more than a dispatcher- he ran Laidlaw - he did an incredible job.

It's not always that you find a father-in-law that is stern but also caring. In this case, he was absolutely always a positive person to be near. The love that he showed for his kids/family can never be questioned. None of us are perfect but I can wholeheartedly say that even in his imperfections, Mr Howard was a wonderful example of a caring man. I am honored to have been blessed with the time he allowed me to spend with him and within his family. I will miss him and will never forget our discussions.
