Bob Hawley Obituary

Bob Hawley

DUNN — Mr. Bob Hawley, 87, of the Plain View Community in Dunn, N.C., passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Sunday, Aug. 6, 2017.

He was born Aug. 3, 1930 in Sampson County, North Carolina the son of the late Wilbert Hawley and Hettie Hawley of Dunn. He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years and the love of his life, Beth Hawley; and his brothers, Ken, Sherrill, Clarence and Stanley Hawley.

Bob graduated from Plain View School in 1948 and followed his education with a career in construction where he was a building contractor. He retired after a thirty five year career building homes in Sampson, Harnett, Cumberland, Wake and Moore Counties.

He had traveled every state in the United States with the exception of two. He traveled to Mexico and found that he truly enjoyed his many trips to Canada. He built a vacation home in Fancy Gap, Va., loved the mountains, lakes and beach, and later even purchased homes in both White Lake, N.C. and Calabash, N.C. Family and friends enjoyed these homes for years.

Left to cherish his memory are his son, Ricky Hawley; daughter, Debby Chiarella and husband Frank; granddaughter, Christy Hawley Smith and husband Matthew; sister, Nora Strickland White, all of Plain View; and his beloved canine companion and fur baby, Blue.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 9, at Cromartie Miller Funeral Home.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 10, at Cromartie Miller Funeral Home. Entombment will follow at Lee's Chapel Williford Cemetery.

The family will also receive friends at the home of Frank and Debby Chiarella at 431 Christmas Tree Road, Dunn, N.C.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Mr. Bob and Mrs. Beth were the very best neighbors anyone could ever wish for. I will always remember Mr. Bob replying to something you said with a 'Yeah Boy'. I will truly miss the times of walking over for a visit.
