Ernest C. Brewer, 77
WARSAW — Ernest Craven Brewer, 77, passed away at his home, Friday, Sept. 19, 2014.
He was born Jan. 17, 1937 in Faison, the son of the late Esthel Craven and Helen Ellis Brewer.
Mr. Brewer is survived by his wife, Ellen Lentz Brewer of Warsaw; two sons, Ellis Craven Brewer (Tracy) of Greenville, S.C. and Warren Lentz Brewer (Angie) of Wilmington; one daughter, Margaret Linn (Tom) of Charlotte; two grandchildren, Molly Riegle Linn and Claire Rainey Linn; two brothers, Glenn D. Brewer (Melba) of Faison and D. Ray Brewer (Elizabeth) of Fuquay Varina; a sister, Debora Brewer of Wake Forest; a sister-in-law, Peggy Brewer of Faison and his beloved dog, Sir Walter Wally.
Mr. Brewer was predeceased by his brother, Louis A. Brewer.
A celebration of Craven's life and a time of sharing memories were held on Sunday, Sept. 21 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Brewer's residence.
Graveside service was at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 22 at Wayne Memorial Park in Dudley with the Rev. Dr. Joe Ward officiating.
Mr. Brewer was a retired commander in the US Navy Reserve Unit having served for 28 years. He was a graduate of UNC Chapel Hill class of 1959 and a life long fan of UNC "Tarheels" and a brother in Kappa Sigma Fraternity.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given to Pet Friends of Duplin County, PO Box 152 Wallace, NC 28466.
