James "J.C." Carl Pope, 75
CLINTON — Mr. James "J.C." Carl Pope, 75, of 506 Pineview Road, died at his home, Friday, Aug. 22, 2014.
A memorial service will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. at the First Baptist Church with Dr. Ray Ammons and the Rev. Charles Allard officiating. A private graveside service will be held at a later date in the Clinton Cemetery.
Born in 1939 in Sampson County, J.C. was the son of the late Carl Lee and Ruby Austin Pope. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Backsliders Sunday School Class. J. C. was a lifelong farmer, a member of the Sportsman Hunting Club in Clinton and the Fishing Creek Hunting Club in Enfield.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Spell Pope; daughter, Laura P. Watkins and husband, Keith of Fort Mill, S.C.; son, James Carl "Jay" Pope, Jr. and wife, Amy of Asheboro; sister, Gracie Redmon of Lakeland, Fla. Nephews, Carlton Player, Jimmy Player, Scott Pope, Noel Tuck; nieces, Tracy Odom, Kathy Hunter, Emily Mitchell and Linda Hamid. Two grandchildren, Gannon Pope and Raley Pope.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Ruby Player and a brother, Larry Cleon Pope.
A special thanks to nephew, Jart and wife, CeCe, Phagan, Pelmon, and Paxton for their dedication and friendship.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the Church Fellowship Hall on Sunday and other times at his home.
The family request no flowers and memorials be made in memory of J.C. to the First Baptist Church, 408 College St. Clinton, N.C. 28328.
